This subject aims to provide a broad overview of the history of colonisation in Australia and its aftermath. It provides a background to the present interaction between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Australian society today and a chronological guide to government policies.
Learning Outcomes
- examine Indigenous Australian histories and effects on contemporary society;
- explore the diversity within Indigenous Australian society and the complexity of relationships in terms of power;
- reflect on identities and how they influence lifestyle and opportunities;
- critically analyse changing policies and the impact on current socio-political contexts.
