This subject introduces students to the diversity of plants found in the tropics, including aspects of their structure, reproduction, distribution, classification and evolution.

Learning Outcomes

• to critically observe and interpret a range of plant materials;
• to gain an understanding of the structure and function of plants;
• to learn how to use keys for identifying plants;
• to develop basic botanical skills;
• to gain an appreciation of the diversity of plants and their evolutionary relationships.
