The study of the theory and practice of corporate finance at an intermediate level including: portfolio theory, capital project appraisal in the presence of risk, capital structure theory, dividend policy, options, futures and capital market efficiency.

Learning Outcomes

• describe the various forms of capital market efficiency and assess their significances for corporate financial decision-making;
• discuss the relevance of dividend policy and the competing theories of capital structure;
• explain the role of risk and the market valuation of securities;
• discuss the role of risk evaluation in captital investion appraisal;
• understand the role of futures and option contracts in hedging and speculation.
