Available to students enrolled in level 3 of the Bachelor of Nursing Science.
Community-based nursing offers the nursing students an opportunity to extend their knowledge in a practice area. Content will be focused on nursing in the community context. A range of community practice areas will be explored. These may include domiciliary nursing, substance abuse nursing, forensic nursing, occupational health nursing and palliative care nursing.
Learning Outcomes
- compare and contrast nursing in community and hospital contexts;
- demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice in nursing care in the community;
- describe the continuum of care between hospital and community;
- discuss a specific area of contemporary community nursing care;
- outline the advantages of working within a multidisciplinary team.
